Weekend in Mendocino
Two weekends ago Josh and I made a romantic escape to Mendocino, CA. Mendocino is a lovely little town in Northern California (about 3 hours north of SF) - it rests atop beautiful bluffs and is surrounded by redwood trees. We stayed in the town at a wonderful bed&breakfast called Headlands Inn. While we love using airbnb it was so nice to stay at a real b&b that serves delicious breakfast every morning. While it was tough for us both to leave work behind, once we hit the open road and headed north our worries started to fade away. We decided to take 101 to 128 (not hwy 1) - while not on the coast this ride is so beautiful as well. We winded (REALLY TWISTY) through gorgeous Sonoma vineyards and then into an unbelievably magical redwood forest. At the end of all that winding around you end up directly facing the ocean - a truly breathtaking view.
We had a lot of fun hiking around, popping into bookstores, and getting tipsy at the old hotel bar. It rained off and on but did not bother us in the least. I would highly suggest a trip to Mendocino! Below are a bunch of photos from our trip, if you have any question, be sure to post in the comments.
